Principal

Boylan Catholic High School has initiated a search for its next Principal who will assume the position in July of 2017. The Principal will be an enthusiastic, practicing Catholic with a genuine commitment to Boylan Catholic High School education. The Principal will be a dynamic, energetic leader who facilitates learning, growth, and collaboration both inside and outside the classroom. The Principal should have the ability and willingness to relate well to students and members of the school community and to interact with them regularly. The Principal is a consummate professional who exercises strong leadership qualities and communicates effectively and appropriately at all times.

The Principal is the instructional leader of the high school, and manages the day-to-day operations of the school and a student body of approximately 900. The Principal is responsible for supervision of instruction and faculty, evaluation of faculty performance and student learning, development and assessment of curriculum, student discipline, and all co-curricular and extra- curricular programs. The Principal is a practicing Catholic who shares responsibility with the school President for providing spiritual leadership and institutional management.

Boylan Catholic High School is a comprehensive, co-educational diocesan high school located in Rockford, Illinois. Students come from a wide geographic region including the city of Rockford, Winnebago County and areas of Boone and Ogle County and represent a mixture of socioeconomic, racial and religious backgrounds.

Boylan is accredited by the North Central Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges (AdvanceED), the Illinois
State Office of Education, and is also a member of the National Catholic Education Association.

Boylan's campus is situated on 60 acres in the northwest section of Rockford. The 55 year-old facility includes a chapel, library, Academic Support Center, guidance offices, auditorium, two gyms, a weight room and a wrestling room. The main building also has a computer-aided design (CAD) lab, three computer networking labs (including a MAC lab), and cafeteria. The Arts and Science Complex has eight science labs, two art classrooms with kiln, and a 175-seat lecture hall/auditorium. The Music Complex houses a band room with five practice rooms and a chorus room. The campus also includes a 5400-seat stadium with a synthetic six-lane running track, two baseball diamonds, multi-use practice fields, and six indoor tennis courts. The Voss Family Alumni Center, located in the northeast quadrant of the campus, houses the Advancement Office and Swim Complex.

Candidates should hold a minimum of a Master’s Degree in educational administration and have the ability to obtain a School Administrator license in the State of Illinois. Candidates should have a minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience, preferably in a Catholic school system, with increasing responsibilities and a proven track record of success.

Chemistry Teacher (Full time)

Candidate must have a chemistry endorsement (a second endorsement in biology would be a plus). The ideal candidate will also possess a strong math background and be comfortable in conducting all aspects of chemistry / biology lab environments. Possessing a Master degree and A.P. chemistry certification or a willingness to work toward is also a plus.

 


 

English Teacher (Full time)

The ideal candidate will be prepared to teach a variety of English literature and composition classes with a strong background in writing preferred. An interest in and experience with Advanced Placement classes is a plus.

 


 

Theology Teacher (Full or Part time)

We are seeking a creative and engaging Theology teacher. All courses follow the U.S. Bishop's doctrine framework for high school catechists. Faculty members are expected to stay current with professional development activities as well as participating in the school's services, retreats and other events promoting the mission of the school. Candidates must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church. Education certificate / license preferred or significant teaching experience.

 


 

Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher (Full time)

The candidate will be required to teach classes in Foods, Clothing, Child Development and Family Relationships.

 


 

World Languages German Teacher (Full or Part time)

The candidate will be required to teach all levels of German. Must be fluent in German and have a familiarity with culture of German speaking countries. Upper level German classes study German authors and literature.
