  • PSAT

All juniors are taking the PSAT/NMSQT exam on Wednesday, October 15. The PSAT/NMSQT includes writing, math, and reading sections. Although the PSAT/NMSQT is NOT used by colleges for admissions selection, it affords juniors the chance to become acclimated with the format and content of college entrance exams, such as the SAT exam. A further advantage is that this same test is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT), entering all juniors in that competition. Each junior receives a PSAT Student Guide containing excellent preparatory material plus a copy of a full-length PSAT test to use for practice. Please encourage your student to study this material. Additional test taking tips and practice questions can be found at

Students should come prepared with #2 pencils and a calculator (scientific/graphing recommended). Check the website above under “What to Bring on Test Day” to ensure your calculator model is approved for use on this test. Students should report to their assigned test room by 7:45 a.m. and will be dismissed approximately at 11:15 a.m. Please read through the attached handout for further information that was provided to juniors in late September.
