Financial Aid Night (FAN) 2013:

The Boylan Guidance Department will host its annual college Financial Aid Night (FAN) in January.

This 90 minute program will feature guest speakers who will address financial aid topics such as the FAFSA, private school financing/loans, scholarships, etc.

All parents of junior and senior level students are welcome to attend (as well as the students themselves). Refreshments will be served and a $300 scholarship door prize will be randomly selected and awarded to a senior student's family.

Summer Programs:

This summer, if you are interested in preparing for college and exploring different academic majors or careers, consider attending a Pre-College Summer Program.  Each program offers diverse experiences to help you discover new interests and strengthen your current skills.  Costs for each program vary.  (Most programs take place on university campuses for a week or longer).  Look for new postings every month this spring.  For program details, go to the website listed or see Mrs. Nooner in Room 216.

PSAT Testing Information:

PSAT TEST DATE - Wed. October 17, 2012.

The PSAT/NMSQT includes writing, math, and reading sections. Although the PSAT/NMSQT is NOT used by colleges for admissions selection, it affords juniors the chance to become acclimated with the format and content of college entrance exams, such as the SAT exam. A further advantage is that this same test is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT), entering all juniors in that competition. Each junior has received a Student Bulletin containing excellent preparatory material plus a copy of a full-length PSAT test to use for practice. Please encourage your student to study this material. Students should come prepared with #2 pencils and a calculator (scientific/graphing recommended). Students should report to their assigned test room by 7:45 a.m. and will be dismissed approximately at 11:15 a.m.
