Mrs. Denise Ethun, Librarian and Mrs. Barbara Olsen, Boylan Resource Center Teacher wrote an FYO4 LSTA Grant entitled “Heroes and Phenomenon-Creating prior knowledge through reading, research and reference.” The grant was awarded to Boylan High School, in the fall of 2003. Over the school year, materials were purchased and programming was developed for students in the Reading Applications class.

Mrs. Olsen and Mrs. Ethun will be attending the AASL (American Association of School Librarians) Fall Forum, “Collaboration and Reading to Learn @ your library” together in Dallas, Texas, October 1-3, 2004. Attendance is made possible through another Federal Grant, Title II, Teacher Quality and Professional Development. Olsen and Ethun hope to bring innovative ideas back to Boylan High School for reading and information literacy across the curriculum.
