Pekin Holiday Tournament – Driving Directions

December 27th: Boylan’s Boys’ Basketball team will be playing against Moline, at 2:15pm, in the 40th Annual Pekin Insurance Holidy Tournament.

Directions:
74 West to I55 South
Take the Route 9 Exit
Stay on Route 9
Go through Parkway drive intersection (Hardee’s Walgreens, Hucks)
Take the next right (Stadium Drive)

Christmas Baskets

For over 25 years, the Boylan Catholic High School Community has assisted the needy with food and gifts for the Holidays.

On Tuesday, December 14, between 12 and 1 pm, students will load a truck with food supplies, clothing, toys, and other items collected by students and faculty. Collection began in mid-November. Teams of students will collect the boxes Tuesday morning and bring them to the Main Entrance for loading.

Sixty-one families will receive these Christmas baskets which will be distributed by St. Elizabeth Center.

Boylan’s Student Council coordinated and led the drive. Advisor is Mrs. Virginia Burd, who will be on hand for further information.

Incoming Freshman Testing

All eighth graders who intend to register for the 2005-2006 school year at Boylan Catholic High School must take the Placement Exam. The Exam will be given on Saturday, January 8, at 8 am.

A $50.00 non-refundable fee is required on the test day. Checks may be made payable to Boylan High School. Students are also asked to bring two #2 pencils.

Students are asked to use the South (Student) Entrance. The test time will end by noon.

AP Scholar Awards Announced

Boylan Catholic High School students have earned the designation of AP Scholar by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program AP Exams.

Five students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. These students are Christina Jones, Daniel Nora, Jessica Olsen, John Pollock, and Kathleen Powers.

Seven students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. These students are John Bell, Mary Dobson, Adriane Downs, Abigail Griffith, Brian Lester, Lee Strand, and James Woywod.

Ten students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Examinations, with grades of three or higher. The AP Scholars are Erin Cox, Rachel Hart, Travis Hiltrop, William Ippen, Michael Leick, Brittani Lenz, Kevin Lester, Aaron Morey, Brian Schaefer, and Jessica Schmitt.

Most of the nation’s colleges and universities award credit, advanced placement, or both based on successful performance on the AP Exams.

Illinois State Scholars Announced

The Illinois Student Assistance commission (ISAC) has announced the names of this year’s students honored as Illinois State Scholars. The Illinois State Scholar Program recognizes Illinois high school students for outstanding academic achievement. The Commission is pleased to announce that 53 Boylan Catholic High School students have been named Illinois State Scholars.

Rankings are based on a combination of ACT and/or SAT 1 test score results and class rank at the end of the sixth semester in high school. While the program does not provide a monetary award, the designation as an Illinois State Scholar can be listed on applications for college admission and scholarships.
