The second annual ‘86 GSB Scholarship Selection Committee is now accepting on-line applications. Applications must be time-stamped by April 15.

All students registered as incoming freshmen at Boylan are candidates for this four year full tuition scholarship. While there is a financial aid component to GSB, emphasis is on talent, potential and ability to positively contribute to the Boylan community.

The Rockford Art Museum’s 67th Young Artists Show has named the following Boylan students as award winners:

Best of 2D — Maria Ludeke

Honorable Mention — Ashley Colletti, Kirsten Gustafson, Danielle Ostendorf, Sasha Spataro.

Chase Bank Selection — Caroline Kaszycki

Addition pieces of artwork selected for exhibition in this show include artwork from:

Jenna Bender (2), Chelsea Burrows, Ashley Colletti, Ashley Cyborski, Kate Deckard, Rachel Doherty, Brittany Earlywine, Melissa Farley(2), Ellen Herkert, Stephanie Jacques, Aaron Kaszczuk, Katie King (2), Lauren Miley, Jacob Murphy, Ashlyn Nayonis, Danielle Ostendorf (2), Brett Pearson, Taylor Rumple (2), Jay Schaul (2), and Diana Weissbeck.

Work will be on display at the museum from March 9 through April 6.

Boylan’s students were among 26,000 students nationally who participated in the American Association of Teachers of German National Testing and Awards Program. Alexis Onderak scored in the 95th percentile and qualifies for a study trip to Germany. Dunja Cosic, Lucille Degener and Ana Mirnic scored above the 85th percentile. Thomas Arnold, Matt Dawson and Vanja Cosic scored above the 70th percentile and will receive certificates of merit.

A second ACT Test Prep class will be offered at Boylan. The class will be taught by Mr. Gerry Davies, chair of the mathematics department and Mrs. Carol Davies, chair of the English department.

Sessions will be on the following Saturdays:

April 26, May 3, May 10, May 17, May 31 and June 7.

The first and last sessions will be practice tests.

Enrollment forms will be available in the Main Office beginning Wednesday, March 5. Enrollment is limited and is first-come, first serve.  Cost is $150.00. Registration for the ACT Test is not included.

The ACT test is set for June 14 and will be administered at Boylan. Students wishing to take this test will need to see their counselor for registration forms or they may register on-line.

Congratulations to Boylan’s Mock Trial Team on their second place finish in State competition.

Four individuals were honored for their achievements in the competition:

Outstanding Attorney — Melissa Cheng

Outstanding Witnesses — Brian Klazura and Heidi Ratzlaff

Perfect score on the written law exam — Ben Logli 

Other members of  the team are: Maureen Brown, David Lynch, Rick Morrison, Greg O’Hara, Kaylen Ralph and Nick Satterlee. 

The team was honored at an assembly held Monday, March 3.

An advance sale of tickets for the boys’ basketball sectional will take place Monday and Tuesday, March 3 & 4 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Main Office. Students may purchase tickets during the lunch periods in the cafeteria.
All tickets are $5.00. All tickets are general admission.
Boylan plays Jacobs at Jacobs High School on Tuesday, March 4.
Tip off is 7:30 p.m.
