Speed McCoy:
Boylan offers a scholarship to incoming Freshmen based on financial need and merit. Each year a fundraiser is conducted by the Boylan Student Council to raise money for this scholarship. This scholarship is in honor of Speed McCoy. Speed McCoy was an adopted child who worked his way through Notre Dame. He started his teaching career at St. Thomas, and continued on at Boylan until he passed away from cancer.
During the first week of March students purchase raffle tickets during lunches, giving them a change to win prizes donated by public and private contributors. 100% of the money from ticket sales goes towards the Speed McCoy Scholarship fund. |
