You have probably heard about our new House System, but today we want to introduce you to one of the two students leading the entire program, senior Paige Trenhaile.

Paige describes the House System as “[priding] itself on inclusivity and unity. Through small Community groups, students can get to know each other in a more intimate setting and meet people they would have never approached before. Underclassmen meet upperclassmen, friend groups are traversed, and people become known. Most students would say they are known by their sports, extracurriculars, or college choices, but the House system allows students to be known by their Community saints, charisms, and identities. The House system also provides an environment that allows only love and kindness. An important component of the system is the ability to create opportunities for those who might not have an outlet to make friends or relax with their peers. This is an in-school break from the academic rigor at Boylan where students are not defined by previous labels and just get to be part of something good.”

“As a student co-director, I oversee each and every House and Community to ensure Leaders feel supported and prepared. I manage meetings with Leaders, resolve conflicts within Communities between Leaders and students, and plan all-House and all-school events. My biggest responsibility in this position is coordinating with Leaders to keep them informed and promoting the system to the rest of the student body.”

Paige has grown in leadership during her time at Boylan, which allows her to be an effective leader. “As a Boylan student, I believe my experience has equipped me with good communication, time management, and public speaking skills. My rigorous academics, numerous extracurricular activities, and previous/current leadership positions, along with the support of the staff, have all contributed to my success.” 

Our House System is transforming our school, and we would be nowhere without student leaders like Paige.
