Parent Volunteer Opportunities

Boylan Catholic High School welcomes help from parents throughout the year. Volunteering is the best way to become involved and to understand what goes on at Boylan. Volunteers serve as a link to the community and as supportive spokespersons for our school.

Volunteer opportunities are listed below. If you are interested in volunteering please fill out this form.

Adoration Chapel

During Eucharistic Adoration, we watch, pray, and remain silent before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. On the first Friday of each month, adoration is offered in the school chapel. We ask volunteers to be present with Jesus, pray for their student, and pray for the entire Boylan community.  Volunteers may sign up for half-hour or hour increments from 7:45 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. each First Friday of the month.

Advancement

The Advancement Office works with the entire school community to further the school’s mission. Its focus is to engage donors in support of Boylan’s total program through philanthropy and volunteerism. Volunteers are needed for the following events.

Annual PhonAthon

March 7, 9, 14, 16

Over the course of eight nights, members of the Boylan community gather to make phone calls to people within the Boylan community to raise funds for student assistance. Each night is a fun-filled evening that has a profound impact on over 46% of our students who receive tuition assistance.

Green and Gold Gala

April 15, 2023

The annual gala will be held at Forest Hills Country Club. Volunteers are needed for the planning committee, prep, set-up, and clean up.

Boylan Open

June 2023, date TBA

Each year more than 250 golfers come together to hit the links at Aldeen Golf Club in Boylan's honor. We need help planning, setting up, coordinating raffle items and giveaways, and cleaning up.

Booster Club

The Booster Club supports all athletic teams. Duties include food concessions, souvenir sales, and support for the Winterfest bowling event. Parents do not have to have students in athletics to participate.

Enrollment

The Enrollment Office works to identify future Boylan students, create a welcoming environment and demonstrate why Boylan is the best choice for students. The following volunteer opportunities are available:

  • Parent volunteers to speak positively of their Boylan experience at parish visits during Mass and Religious Education programs. If you are enthusiastic about your child's Boylan experience, please consider sharing your story. (Please indicate your preferred parish)
  • Open House (November 2023, exact date TBD): Parent volunteers to be greeters and to answer Parent FAQs at the Boylan Open House.

Friends of the Fine Arts

The Friends of the Fine Arts support student endeavor in the visual, performing, literary, and musical arts. There are a variety of opportunities to help sell tickets, serve refreshments, work concessions stands, construct costumes (sewing), and build break down theater sets. Any and all skill levels are welcome!

Teacher/Staff Appreciation

Provide meals throughout the school year – a soup lunch in the fall, a breakfast during Catholic schools week, and an end of the year lunch. This could include a food donation, assistance in hosting the meal, or a small monetary donation for the end of the year lunch.

Used Uniform Program

Used uniforms are collected throughout the school year. At the end of the year they are organized and sold in a two-day sale open to current and new parents. Help is needed to collect, sort and organize uniforms in advance, as well as staffing on the day of the sale. The sale is typically after school is dismissed for the summer.

Protecting Gods Children

All volunteers of Boylan Catholic are required to complete the Safe Environment Program requirements through the Diocese of Rockford. Click here to learn more.
